Lebanon's season ended Friday at Clifton Tribble Field. The Blue Devils (7-4) lost 36-14 to two-time defending Class 6A champion Oakland in the first round. Gavin Gregory opened the game with a 99-yard kick return for a 6-0 lead.
- Oakland's record: 9-2, next at Maryville (10-1)
- Freshman Jayce Blake: 6-of-16 for 42 yards
- Blake started in place of the injured Nate Dye
- Oakland's loss last week: 36-34 to Riverdale
The Patriots hadn't opened the playoffs away from home since 2012. Regular-season losses to Smyrna and Riverdale left them third in Region 3-6A. Lebanon coach Chuck Gentry had praise for his freshman quarterback:
“But he stood in there, made some throws and he never flinched no matter what.”
